Polly, I think that’s related to the chat box. The chat box uses ActiveX in some versions of IE for refreshing and posting.

Okay.  No biggie for my experience.  I haven't used the chat box yet and I don't see anything different when I look at it.  It doesn't seem to be a harmful add-on from what I can tell.

Hi Richard - when I'm on just the regular part of this website the request is not there but as soon as I log in, it appears across the top (just above the Hyperspace Cafe logo). I haven't used the chatbox yet. I don't go to links in the posts much (as you say perhaps it's from a video or music link posted here somewhere) and as I have 'Windows Media Player' anyway I don't understand what the request is for. Maybe I need a 'computer-speak' dictionary that will translate all these odd things for me!

You said you don’t get the messages until you login and that makes me think it’s related to the chat box because that doesn’t load until members login. However it has nothing to do with media player, so I’m stumped why you would get that message. If anything you should be getting a active-x message.

Maybe I have some 'gremlins' in the system. I'm just ignoring the message. Some months ago I started getting a message everytime I close the net (regardless of which site I'm on). Sysfader. I have asked a few people about it - some don't have a clue, and a couple have heard of it. I did find some info a while back where people who have had this occur have tried to fix it (not successfully sometimes). It's connected to IExplorer so maybe I need an expert for help on that one. Anyway thanks for your help.

Sysfader is used in part to put your PC into Hibernation mode. I wonder if you have spyware or a virus that is giving you the media player messages. Have you tired running Ad-Aware or another spyware remover to see if anything is on your system? Here’s a link to Ad-Aware that you can download for free.

Hello Reader,

I happen to discover what the media player message is that you’re getting. It’s related to the Google ads. For some reason it has never happen to me until today. I clicked on a thread and got a message asking to allow a media player add-on. I allowed it and noticed a Google ad started playing an animated ad.

Thanks for the new info Richard.  Has the message gone now?  Did you get any more Google ads playing after the one you mentioned?  What did you do when it played?  I haven't been here for quite some time and just thought I'd look in after the US election to see how you were all going.  It occurred to me to check this thread also so that was good timing.

I still get some ads that are animated. The Google ads display something different for every user, so some users will get animated ads and some won’t.
