i had an idea today. how would it be if we had a chat room? whats people's opinion on this?

There are usually 4 logged on members at any time. I know this because I often check the online members status at the bottom of the front page. But sometimes there are 10 guests (like right now). If we do chatrooms, we need to let guests in too. Also, not everyone is in the same time zone, even though we can arrange to have a group meeting with no topic to talk about. If people want a chatroom, I suggest a shoutbox. People can quickily leave greetings or shout-outs on the frontpage without delving into any topics. This transcends time. Well, you might post a chat time then meet on irc channel? Use a free client or Mirc. But chats have not worked well here. I chat a bit but its for the music forums im with. We have a chat night and have a chat night with music and a DJ spinning tunes.

i have some experience with conspiracy chat rooms, to keep an conspiracy/alternative talk chat room alive and active, is not an easy task. i probably had 20 different alt chat rooms over the years, all on IRC. All died or were taken over for one reason or another. we had the #infowars chatroom on DALNET, not too long after 911. then when dalnet died i started the #new_world_order chat room on efnet. it grew into a large channel with many regular chatters, it was the biggest alt chat room on the planet that i knew of. it was taken over by fascists that run it to this day. there is still some splinter channels that were made by disgruntled #new_world_order chatters that i pop into now and again, as ive made some great friends through irc over the years. if there's any interest ill create a hyperspacecafe chat room on irc

Good news, A chat box has been installed near the bottom of the forum. Only forum members can see and use it. Forum members are automatically logged into the chat box when they log into the forum. Forum members can also click the chat button near the top of the forum. This will give members a larger chat window than the one at the bottom of the forum. Enjoy
