I thought this article was interesting because I’m one of those people that hear high frequency tones all the time. Out of curiosity I’d like to know if there are other members that hear it? Data4science.net First, you (may) need have to have fairly good hearing, up to about 15Khz. First, mute the audio on your TV and see if you can still hear the horizontal frequency. Its is a very high pitch, and the only audible sound from a television today. Now, in a quiet room with no TV just listen. Do you still hear a sound much like that? If you do, THAT is the high frequency tone. I've spoken to people across the USA that can hear it. One may or may not, need to have hearing that can reach that high. The older we get, the more the high frequencies are attenuated. If this is being induced into the auditory system without using the ear, then one may still hear it. To me, it reminds me of the frequency you would hear from older ultrasonic transducers, like those used in alarm systems. Here are some characteristics of 'the tone': 1. It appears to come from everywhere, without being directional. 2. You can hear it anywhere, even underground. 3. Every now and then it may stop, and then restart. 4. It is audible around many parts of the USA, and perhaps all of it. It remains to be seen if this is another form of mind control. The source of the high frequency tone signal is not yet known. It is most likely a ground wave. If it is being delivered from satellite it would be attenuated by going underground, which I've proven it is not. http://www.data4science.net/index.php?project=hftone

Yes, I hear these tones ! their duration is about 1 to 2 minutes, say about 1 to 3 times per week. Esp. when doing "philosophical things". I hear the tones possibly 4 to 5 times a year. Usually in my right ear. Lasts approx. 10-15 seconds. Can't hear much, other than the tone, while it is going on and for about 15 seconds after the tone leaves, I'm pretty much deaf. Then my hearing will return to normal.

Interesting that you two only hear it for short intervals. I hear the tone 24/7. I have to use a white noise generator while I’m sleeping to mask the tone. Without the generator it’s more difficult trying to sleep. During the day at work and home I don’t hear so much because there is usually enough noise going on to mask it but whenever there is silence I hear it. I always did wonder what it was.

EXACTLY, that's what I do experience. My first estimation of 1 to 2 minutes duration is quite to long; it's often less than 20-30 seconds. The tones come in my right ear also. And I feel also deaf for these seconds. Other detail: it seems they come only when I'm at home and they come at the end of a day; say around 22:00h to 02:00h at night. My convinction is also it has to do with the newest electronics in my home (PC, DVD-player, cell-phone). Richard I hear high frequency tones 24/7 as well and have for a long time now. But then again I have been diagnosed with Meniere's Syndrome. Still I can hear the radio if it's plugged in and not on so I unplug as many appliances as I can until I actually need to use it. Cordless phones especially were irritating . I no longer use those. The white noise ,for me , just added more noise. My husband snores like a bear and it was suggested that I use earplugs in order to get a decent night's sleep. Earplugs only amplify the constant ringing in my ears. There are times when I get a different tone for 10-15 seconds . I feel these are ELF transmissions. That constant ringing is tiring!! I love when the power goes out! The ringing is almost totally gone. MN, I pick up radio stations too. At least that’s what I think they are. The sounds are so faint that it’s hard for me to know for sure what I’m hearing. It sometimes sounds like songs and other times it sounds like people talking.

I recently started hearing a high frequency tone in certain areas of my house.... being im a musican, i downloaded a tone generator and tuned it to match the tone im hearing... the frequency ended up being 3001.50 hz very strange...

I've always had problems with what I have called "electronic" noise. Once I had a stroke where I lost 45% of the hearing in one ear so I had to get a hearing aid. The technician still doesn't understand just which frequency it is I don't want amplified. So now I hear it even better! Aaaarrgghhhhh! The only relief I get is to go way out into the countryside, far away from any towers or anything. I can feel my whole body sighing with relief. While at home I have to make do with turning everything off but that just doesn't get that one certain sound. I don't think any of us would confuse the two different noises but just in case -tinnitus (which is just ringing in the ears) should probably be ruled out - causes of tinnitus include pernicious anemia, high blood pressure, thyroid imbalance, vitamin A deficiency, and zinc deficiency.

I hear the HFs all the time too. I agree with MN that they are ELFs and that the sound is amplified by wearing earplugs. I would describe the sound as very much like what you would hear with your ear next to a seashell, although sometimes it varies with high pitch tones. I have also experienced other sounds which I would identify differently. One was a loud, persistent high pitch tone which varied a bit. I think this was a medical issue. Another, has been a low pitch drum beat like sound (very similar to the boom box noise you hear from the cars of urban thugs). I think this was either a medical issue, or more likely, an implant. Me too, Richard. Great, so I'm not crazy!

Every so often I hear something like that, its a very high pitched squealing noise, it seems to penetrate all the way into my skull, and the times when I do hear it are very very uncomfortable... if it last very long it causes me pain, but normally I lose the ability to hear it soon after it starts.

I hear it all the time since a few weeks. Can be caused by ELF, internal implants, wet ears, electronics everywhere.

IM sitting here listening to it now. I tune it out. But there is the constant one and then every now and then the really sharp loud one you cant tune out and yes it makes me deaf for a sec or two after it.

I don't know if this is related but for whatever its worth, I've been experiencing sensitivity to high pitch sounds since I was a child. My mom took me shopping once and we entered a jewelry store where I immediately became very unconfortable hearing a high pitch sound. I wanted to leave and my mother didn't understand my distress because she didn't hear the sound at all. Others were confortable shopping. She asked a manager about the sound and he was so surprised that I could hear it. There was, in fact, a high pitch sound that had something to do with their security system but no one else ever complained of hearing it except for me. I actually could not shop in that store because it made me so uncomfortable. These days I do get the ringing tones occasionally, for short intervals and I can't hear anything else while they are going on. As soon as they stop, my hearing just returns to normal. I never gave it much thought until reading this Forum thread. I didn't realize so many others felt this.

Wow, I am so glad others can hear this too. To me it sounds like a really high keening -- like when you first turn in a very old tv set, that electric sound. Was reading a neat website where this person started logging the starts and stops and she found a numeric pattern in her life. So I have starting trying to be more aware of when it happens to me. In my area, I find this sound 'hits' about the time people get up and drive to work, then slacks off. Then starts up good again all around the lunch hour, slacks back off. Then again in late afternoon when people start getting out of school and work. One weekend I noticed it followed peoples waking patterns, later Also it strikes when I am getting too original with my thinking about what is going on in the world; and surfing 'out of the box' thinking type websites. Sometimes I realize it is SO loud when I have a really great realization about something. Then I know this is something they probably don't want me to continue thinking about. So I continue thinking about it just becauseThanks Brosko for the idea of matching it to the Tone Generator to see what frequency it is. I suggest you dig up a Rife frequency chart to see what disease it matches...or maybe someone has a chart indicating what frequencies do stuff to the mind? My tone experience doesn't stay 'on' all 24 hrs, but most of it. I class it as medium during the day, with med-loud to hey! when they are trying to botch a particularly good realization. I don't notice it bothering me at bedtime as I find background tv noise worse.

In the last couple of years, I've noticed the phenomenon Richard describes above. I hear voices, usually male, speaking as if they were coming from a radio with a low volume. I hear them in my bedroom. I have often gone to see if my neighbours are sitting out on their patios chatting, to try to identify the source of the sound but there's never anyone there. Until I saw Richard's note, I thought it was just me being crazy. [Not completely ruling that out as a possibility though ].

I sometimes pick up a music station but only when I am on my bed with my head at the head of the bed. I hear it with my left ear.
