Again, I'll copy what I put else where here to get it started.  ----- Orbs are believed to be energy that indicate the presence of a spirit (not talking angels or anything religous by using the term "spirit"). Everything in the universe, of course, is made up of energy, and ghosts are no different. They need to manifest energy in order to appear, and thats also where cold spots come from, but thats another discussion. These orbs you see could be spirits, but in my experience, it's rare to see them with the naked eye. they usually show up in pictures but are difficult to see with the naked eye. Now Shadow ghosts and apparitions are a different story but again, thats for another topic. As William stated, it could be something else all together. There is a theory about microscopic black holes on earth and then there's the portal, or door way, to alternate universes....so who knows. haha. I'm not tryin to be difficult and not answer the question...but defining ghosts beyond a shadow of a doubt is next to impossible as our technology is just unable to prove their existence absolutely. I will include stories/pix and maybe even some EVP's and stuff from some of the ghost hunts I've been on for people to see and talk about. and trust me, i'm NOT offended if someone doesnt believe, so hold nothing back if there is something to say.

Since you seem somewhat knowledgeable about orbs and such, I will repost a picture of one that I took in my backyard. This is one of my favorite pictures that I took of an orb (we have quite a few in our backyard...I've been told it is because we live near a cemetary.) This is the original... You can just see the top of our fence in the bottom of the picture. The picture was taken with my digital camera in the dark (no lights on in our backyard at the time). I couldn't see what I was taking pictures of at the time, I was just pointing the camera at random and clicking. Hambone, Seeing orbs with the naked eye a rarity?? Really? I've seen quite a few including Bailey's. That is certainly an interesting picture. My first impression is that it is a digital artifact of some kind, because of the multi-color strangeness. Perhaps some other device, such as a cell phone, is the cause. The rounded, fuzzy edges make you wonder. If that is the only picture of it, and it dind't turn up in any others, that would tend to support the digital distortion idea. But then, even the most skeptical of scientists will tell you that there are bits of dark matter everywhere, and that they don't know what it is yet. Maybe the picture is a Gay Borg ship. Rainbow cube. Resistance is futile, honey.

Merc, yes, really, I've not seen an orb with my naked eyes in my 12 years of ghost hunting nor has anyone I've personally spoken to. I read of very few accounts when someone said they've seen one either. If you notice, I said, and I quote, "but in my experience, it's rare to see them with the naked eye." MY EXPERIENCE. I dont claim to be the all knowing orb/ghost/evp guru and I only talk about what I have experienced. If I'm quoting someone else or an article somewhere, I'll put a link in or at least mention that it's someone elses opinion. Would you be so kind as to go in to more detail with us about the orbs you've seen and explain what "Bailey's" is? Where were you? whats the story behind the haunting? how many other people saw it/them? did you get any pix? I'd love to hear your stories about orbs you've allegedly seen with your naked eyes and what Baileys is. I have no idea what you're talking about. DreamTime....I'd ask you to take some more pix over your fence during the daytime and then post them or email them to me if you prefer. I copied your pic and looked at it with photoshop and it looks like the side of the cube facing to the right is reflecting light while the opposite (left side as you look at it) isnt too much so I think it's a natural object to be honest, but I'd need to see waht it looks like over your fence in the daylight before I can really give a 100% honest opinion on what I think it is. thanks!

Okay, I will try and remember to do that, Hambone. I haven’t taken any pictures in the back for quite a few months now. My dog gets freaked out when I turn off all the lights in the backyard. Let me explain a little more about the picture I took and how I took it. Like I said, it was with my digital camera. I turn off all the lights in the backyard, and since we live in the country, it gets quite dark back there. There are no street lights (and no cell phones, BFBB). I was standing in the middle of the yard, so I was not snapping a picture ‘over’ the fence. I just turn around in a circle, snapping whenever I get the urge. It was about 2 in the morning, so none of the neighbors were awake with lights on (and besides, like I said, I live in the country so we do not have neighbors that close by). It was late fall, so there was no pollen floating around, nor were there any bugs. If you search this site, there are a few other pictures of orbs that I caught in our backyard. I have noticed that orbs seem to follow my family around. Pictures that I take of my grandkids and/or daughters have orbs in them a lot of the times. Even pictures that my daughters take with their cameras catch the orbs – so it is not just my camera. We have gotten so used to them by now that we just Photoshop or crop them out of the pictures. Hambone, I am just shocked orbs being seen with the naked eye are a rarity as I have seen, as I mentioned quite a few. We had the orb Bailey's discussion back on June 21st in the Shadow Ghost thread. You might consider making a trip down to Angelton/ Bailey's Prairie sometime. DT, I recently read something that described your "cube" like orb nearly perfectly.I meant to save it and send it to you but was distracted with something else and forgot. I'll try looking it up again. If I recall correctly this "cube" like orb was referred to as being"angelic" in nature. In the pic you posted of a circular orb ( with the kidlet in the pic) that's the kind of orb I've seen. Some of them were more blue in color some more pink. My husband and 4 children have seen Bailey's too. More than once. I saw more than one orb out there. Below is a link to one out of many reports. Okay Dreamtime. I was incorrect about the "angelic" reference. Below is what was described. "Now, when you look at the tiny element that is etheric energy, it does not appear like a water drop or some other form, energy of the higher etheric frequencies takes on geometric forms. In this case trillions of condensing and compacting pyramids, squares, and circles, with varying colors of irridescent/metallic green, blues, violets. " So ,to me, the cube thingy may be of a "higher etheric frequency". Merc...i read the link, thanks. There is a story similar to Baileys Light here in this area called the Anson Lights. As the story goes, if I recall, a woman's children got lost during a snow storm and died. she's never stopped looking for them. when you go out there, you'll see what looks like a ball of light. This isnt the actual orb or the woman, but allegedly the light from the lantern she carrys looking for her children. it's very similar to the Baileys Light, except in that story, they're looking for Whiskey, no children. so, IMO, you're not seeing an "orb" as that refers to the actual energy of the deceased but you're seeing the "light" the ghost is carrying looking for whiskey just like at the Anson Lights phenomena we're seeing the lantern the woman is carrying looking for her kids, not the orb of the woman looking for her kids. hope that makes sense. DreamTime, thanks for that explination. I personally have not seen square orb phenomena but I'd still like to see pix similar to what you posted but taken in the daytime. No offense is intended...I belive in ghosts and lots of other weird stuff, but as a ghost hunter, I always try to remain objective and come up with a logical reason for what appears to be paranormal.

Merc...i think you're getting Ghost Lights confused with Orbs. Wikipedia is not the all knowing source, but to give you objective definitions of both, thats my source. and this website shows some good differences on what natural and allegedly paranormal orbs look like. http://www.ghostweb.com/orb_theory.html I personally think you're seeing ghost lights and not orbs in the sense of orbs being spirit energy (ghosts) and ghost lights being something different than spirit energy. If you want to call a ghost light an orb...then thats cool, you are seeing an orb by your definition. Either way, you're seeing something that is quite possibly paranormal and thats all that really matters.

Well, there are different types of orbs and if you look back in history and paintings you will see orbs in them. The children running about and orbs following them etc. There are "Hot" spots where orbs are and we use to have a thread showing one Portal open with orbs about in it. Also, orbs of some sort can be a projection of our energy throwing off so to speak. Ive seen ghost that look like orbs when they are peering at us. The ghost sometimes shrink up in to a ball to hide i guess or its them losing their focus or maybe us as a viewer that will see a ghost in its energy form and not its earthly form. If you go outside at dusk and focus your energy around your body you will see tiny black orbs or almost pin points. Blobs are another type of orbs so to speak and they have been in our movies for a long time and in old folk lore.

No,I'm not confused. What I've seen at Bailey's and other places looks dead on :big grin:, the Spirit orb pics you've posted Hambone, particularly the blue one. My feeling is that for whatever reason some people,especially kidlets, are more able to "see" etherically. I also feel that what some see as phenomena is almost so ordinary to others that they tend to take it for granted. If I'm ever in Brazoria County Texas again I will most certainly make a trip to Bailey's Prairie and take some pic's. It is a bit creepy there at night however.The light chases some people. Hambone ,you're much closer than I as I'm in Ohio. You're group might have a field night there.

I didn't know anything about orbs till I got here! Now here's a funny thing - due to some odd things happening in my bedroom Stewart has suggested there may be a vortex under my house. Since starting hyperspace work & deprogramming over the last few months, when doing the exercises at night in front of my bedroom window, I often see tiny black things shooting past my window. Ususally in my peripheral vision but I have seen a few straight on. They are very small but very fast, and occasionaly change direction suddenly. Also there are nights when I see a lot of white wisps in the air inside my room once the lights are off. A couple of times this black orb activity has been quite intense, and later in the night my demon has come and woken me up by doing something weird & menacing. I wasn't sure if it was all connected, and this sort of thing doesn't tend to happen so often now I use protection techniques, and have been protected by others too.
