Last week I went to the beach with a couple of friends and boy did we pick the right day. An hour or so after we got there, we noticed that there seemed to be a storm coming in and I decided to take a few pictures of the sky (it just looked so cool). The storm moved in faster and faster until finally my one friend got nervous and said that we really should be going, and off she ran to the car lugging most of our stuff with her. My other friend was more adventurous like me, and she kept on telling me to take more pictures. We couldn't stop staring at how fast the clouds were moving and how black they were turning. Then the wind began to pick up and the sand began hitting us like little shards of glass. That's when I decided to put the ole' camera back into its case. Still though, we just couldn't seem to leave quite yet. Things were getting exciting...   As we looked down the beach, we could see whirlwinds of sand (sand tornadoes) moving off into the distance. Then the wind really began to pick up, waves began getting higher, sand became "ouch" on our skin, and our other friend came back to pull us back to the car. As we made our way to the car, I wondered if we would even make it - the wind was that strong. icon_ventilator We made it into the car just before the rain started (which we thought was a good sign).  And we actually made jokes about  being like "Dorothy" in The Wizard of Oz. But then when we drove through town to get home, we realized how lucky we really were. Evidently, there really were tornadoes that moved through Michigan. We saw trees that looked like a giant had reached down and just twisted these huge 100 year old trees out of the ground and threw them down. It was truly amazing.

Anyway...I have the pictures that I took, posted up on my My Space site, if you would like to take a look. Believe it or not, I had a good time. icon_2thumbs

Great share, D.T. I love looking at storm clouds and the energy that comes with them is exciting.

Oh wow...I never even thought of it...I don't know if you have to be a My Space member to see the pictures. I thought that anyone could if I wanted them to. Does anyone else know the answer to this? Okay, I guess I could just put them up here. Give me some time and I will post them up here. Sorry folks.
