Mystery Hum Puzzles Geologists

I found this link at the Earthboppin' forum.  Richard, I hope you have not already posted this story.

"Something entirely new to us is causing this hum. Its frequency suggests something is 'twisting' the surface of the crust."

Richard, this could be part of the reason my mind often feels twisted.  :D:D:D

Twisted is an interesting description. Does that mean you’re feeling some kind of pressure?

I did a little research about "The Hum":

  •  From November 2006 - - > you can listen to a recording of a hum from Auckland, New Zealand here.   It actually caused both my eardrums to throb and I gained an instant headache... so if you want to listen, I'm putting up a warning.  Here's the story about the New Zealand hum from NPR.
  • A map of *Hum Hearers" HERE.
  • Interesting subject lines from a GLP search of just the word "Hum".  If interested, try a search.
  • From David Deming, College of Geosciences, University of Oklahoma, 100 East Boyd Street, Room 710, Norman, OK 73019

"The Hum is a mysterious and untraceable sound that is heard in certain locations around the world by two to ten percent of the population. Historically, the area that has been most affected by teh Hum is the United Kingdom, where reports have been frequent since the early 1970s. In the United States, Hum reports date from the early 1990s, with the two most publicized locations being Taos, New Mexico, and Kokomo, Indiana. The source of the Hum has never been located. The Hum does not appear to be a form of tinnitus and may not be an acoustical sound. More than just noise, the Hum is also capable of manifesting as vibrations felt throughout the body and is often accompanied by a suite of physical symptoms that includes headaches, nausea, and pain in the ears. Analysis of the largely anecdoctal data that are available at teh present time suggests that the most probable explanation is that some people have the capability to interpret radio transmissions at certain wavelengths as sound. It is well established in the scientific literature that people can hear electromagnetic energy at certain frequencies and peak power levels. Previous studies have found that a subset of the population has an electromagnetic sensitivity that is significantly great than the mean. Several hypotheses are considered and discussed as possible sources of the Hum. These include cellular telephone transmissions, LORAN, HAARP, and TACAMO aircraft operated by the US Navy for the purpose of submarine communications."
  • From wikipedia The Hum.
  • You Tube video about the Auckland Hum.
  • Link to The Hum Forum.  his forum is devoted to discussion of the "Hum", a worldwide phenomenon. The "Hum" is a mysterious noise heard by 1 to 10 percent of the population in certain areas, including North America, Europe, Great Britain, Australia, and New Zealand. The classic hum sound is comparable to the sound of a distant diesel engine idling. There have been extensive reports of the Hum in the United Kingdom since at least the early 1970s. The two best-publicized areas in the United States that have been plagued by the Hum are Taos, New Mexico, and Kokomo, Indiana.

Hearers are invited to plot their location on a
    worldwide map at: http://www.frappr.com/humhearers

The orientation of this forum is scientific and factual. Discussion
of the paranormal and supernatural hypotheses are not allowed.

Professor Deming's 2004 review paper on the Hum can now be downloaded as a .pdf file from the "Files" area. This is the only comprehensive and authoritative reference on the Hum that exists. It is an essential introduction for anyone that is interested in this phenomenon.
UGH!  My ears still hurt from that first link!!!  I don't hear *The Hum* here in Eden, and sort of sorry I heard it for the first time today!  icon_lepra

Try as I might, Sily, I could not hear that "hum."

Yes, I feel pressures from different sources and it can be hard to keep track of what is what.

There are two hums:

"For around a decade we've known about Earth's quiet "vertical" hum, probably caused by the steady thumping of deep waves on the ocean floor. Now a team in Germany has discovered a second "horizontal" note, too, and nobody knows what's causing this new signal."

*shudder* *shiver* & *shake*  icon_verzweifelt  You can't hear that?

I did it again Dreamtime, just to see if I was hallucinating the first time I played it -- played it again and now the inside of my ears are itching!!!  Ugh.

Oh, it's there alright................. but............... a lot of these articles say only a few percentage of the population can hear it.

Blessed you are, that you cannot hear it.  Believe me.

Now if you'll excuse me I'm going to go put apple cider vinegar cotton balls in my ears.  Both ears.

I think they are related - but just my opinion!   Even if the scientists say they aren't I think they are.  I go like this to the scientists - - ->  :P

What makes you think they are related, Sily?  Do you think they are both generated by technology?

Unfortunately Sily, my specialty is or are smells. My hearing is not too great, but my sniffer is in hyper-drive. I'm almost on a par with Anubis. But let me tell you, I would rather (MUCH rather) have super hearing than super smell. Every little smell bothers me and people think I am nuts when I tell them I can smell something that they can't.

I don't know, just a feeling I had.  icon_nixweiss  You got a vertical hum and then a horizontal hum comes in.......... logic says they are opposite but I think might be related.  Geometry, it kinda makes sense.

Generated by technology?  I have a few ideas but they are very strange.  Maybe something from the underground bases -- a new weapon they are testing out?  Maybe something from space -- we are being bombarded with *something* and a few can hear it.  Maybe it's pole shift or... my fav - - ->  "that the new hum is synchronised with variations in the Sun's magnetic field".

Maybe someone is trying to break up the earth, via eathquakes, and this *hum* or wave frquency fractures the crust.  I KNOW it fractures my ears.  UGH.

Ahhh... maybe it's from another dimension or the astral.

Okay.... maybe it is the Earth correcting itself - - -> we've had the vertical *hum* for years, so to balance the earth creates a horizonal hum to balance things out.

I forgot to check expansions Q & A and what was said about "humming".  I thought these were interesting!!!:
  • No Sleep
    Posted: February, 20, 2008

At times (night or early AM)I hear a high pitched hum or buzz that's been mentioned here as ELF transmissions. Last night I awoke @3AM, couldn't go back to sleep. Heard a new, hard to describe sound. Not loud but continual, rhythmic, hypnotic, almost like a mechanical whirring sound but not quite. When I got up to investigate it abruptly stopped as if it was aware that I was aware of it and didn't want to be discovered. Very strange. I use the Ultimate Protection before going to bed but it didn't seem to be enough last night. I've been feeling more scattered lately too. Any ideas? Thanks! Stewart's Reply: Welcome to my world! What you hear may be coming from the lower astral. Use Lion Frequency every night. You should come to the April seminar.
  • Taos Hum
    Posted: February, 17, 2008

Dear Stewart, The 'Today' show had a story about the 'Taos Hum' and they were searching for the reason. I s this due to expansion of underground bases in the area? It was also mentioned that Kokomo, Indiana has a similar issue. Thanks again, Mo Stewart's Reply: Yes, it is from expanding caverns and tunnel systems underground. Many of these then amplify the sound of electromagnetic equipment in deep installations.
  • Great Sand Dunes
    Posted: December, 29, 2003

I just read on the internet that there was a 3.1 in SW Colorado and wondered if you had any information on this area. The long/lat listed show it to be close to the Great Sand Dunes National Monument parking lot and Mt. Blanca Peak. There's allot of talk of underground installations there and there was a hum a few years back while they were 'digging' around at night? Also Arco has an anti-gravity research facility up on the top of Blanca as well. Any additional information? Stewart's Reply: This area is just north of the Dulce underground base and south of the new giant base on the Colorado-Utah border. They must be connecting them or enlarging an area. Thanks for the update.
  • Hear ELF
    Posted: December, 05, 2003

Saw this article today. http://www.prisonplanet.com/120303mysterioushum.htmlCould it be that these people are sensitive enough to hear or feel ELF? Stewart's Reply: You are absolutely correct! What they are picking up is the underground construction of tunnels and caverns in their area. Those who do not hear the sound are under the influence of a dampening field (mind-control) that "tells" them not to hear anything, even though the sound is there. These sensitives bypass the ELF.

You know what is weird? I just listened to that link again through my headphones and I heard it! When my headphones are off, I can't hear a thing, but when I listen through the headphones it comes through clearly. Go figure.

Hehe... well then you are on a very high par because Anubis is the King.  He is a very special dog!  Why... he is reincarnated royalty!

His minor problems with *gas" can be overlooked when assessing his true status as Anubis the King!

Well the 'King' is a pain in the arse! You should see what he did to us just because he didn't want his nails cut.  The big spoiled fat baby!

He gnawed us both.  :X He was especially angry when I put the muzzle on him. But there was nothing he could do then except sit there and take it. icon_anmachen Humph - I showed him who was boss! icon_aufsmaul At least until next time.

I have one more idea -- came to me this morning -- it goes along with "that the new hum is synchronised with variations in the Sun's magnetic field".

The Sun is communicating with the Earth with it's magnetic field and the Earth is responding, in kind, with the response of a *hum*.  Soooo.. what we've got here is a conversation between the Sun and the Earth.

Think about the force it would actually take to twist the earth's crust.

I have read that the full moon can actually lift mountain ranges up about 6 inches and then when the full moon wanes a bit the ranges actually snap back down and this contributes to plate movements and earthquakes.
