I see the woman moving clockwise.

Article from: The Herald Sun

THE Right Brain vs Left Brain test ... do you see the dancer turning clockwise or anti-clockwise?

If clockwise, then you use more of the right side of the brain and vice versa.

Most of us would see the dancer turning anti-clockwise though you can try to focus and change the direction; see if you can do it.

LEFT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses logic
detail oriented
facts rule
words and language
present and past
math and science

RIGHT BRAIN FUNCTIONS
uses feeling
"big picture" oriented
imagination rules
symbols and images
present and future
philosophy & religion
can "get it" (i.e. meaning)
believes
appreciates
spatial perception
knows object function

Hey that was fun! I can make it go either way and side-to-side. Does that mean my brain is in a muddle??

The dancer periodically switches direction and it's not my brain doing that.

I think it must be your brain doing that because she only moves clockwise for me.

This is interesting how everyone sees something different when looking at the woman. I’ve watched her a few times now and I noticed a couple times I seen her moving counter clockwise but only for a second. I don’t know if that’s the image or my mind doing that. icon_confused

Neat.  When I first saw her she was going CCW.  Then I looked away briefly and she went CW.  She stayed clockwise for the longest time for me and then I went to a meeting, came back, tried it again and my brain was switching her CCW, CW and back to CCW pretty fast.

At first I thought it was a trick, but now I think it's a very clever optical illusion.  One guy at another message board took the .gif and separated each panel and at panel 13, if you look at the lady you can switch her from CCW to CW and back and forth very easy.

Very interesting.  Got a bit dizzy tho.  icon_muede

Okay, so there is a specific panel where the switch can happen.

I only see her moving clockwise...I tried everything to get her to move the other way, but I just couldn't do it. I even stared at her pelvic region (hehe) but, nope...wouldn't do it. I stared and stared and stared...so if it does change periodically, then somehow I am missing it.

I believe so.

I can't find the guy, I was talking about in my original post, who I saw split the .gif into the separate panels and isolate panel thirteen, but here is a similar explanation that I found at this blog.  Look at the picture of the lady on the left.  Imagine she's turning right.  Then imagine left.  It's very easy to switch her direction now.  Here:

Yes I see her moving both ways, and it is an illusion, you can tell just by the shading and the way the picture is set up. If you notice the right side of the frame is shadowed darker than the left, and her arm extends depending on which leg is raised. If you can not see it DT, watch her arms as one will be by her side and the other raised with the leg that is moving.

DT, try closing one eye and watching, then the other.  What happens?

Nope...still moves clockwise.  I guess I must be retarded or something because I just can not get her to move any other way...

I did some reading about this test and it sounds like a lot of people feel it is a valid test. It is an optical illusion; it depends on how you perceive it.

Interesting, Richard.  I'm not sure yet.  I'll have to experiment more.  :-)

Hehe.... :D

If I could, I'd throw a blanket 'round her -- she's been twirling nekkid for nearly two days now and I'm seeing signs of her being a bit "chilly"... if'n ya know what I'm hinting at.  ;)

Sily  LOL

Ok, I fergot to get drunk and watch the girl spin.   I was really thinking that if my mind was altered maybe i would see her spin the other way.  But for now she only spins to the left for me!  Or maybe if I was to play the guitar for awhile maybe she will spin to the right?   Ive not tried hard enough to make her change spinning, i want to see if i can get in a different mood and look for her to spin another way.

  Fun test.

What I am seeing is that there is a certain frame which appears seemingly randomly in which the direction can be switched by the mind -  it depends upon the viewer.

I have spent a lot of time trying to force a change in direction in my perception but it only happens at certain times and those times are when that particular frame appears.  I need someone here to watch it with me to see if they can verify what I am seeing but I will have to wait on that.

To me, it's a brain perception thing and a change in the image, if that makes sense.
