Hi Veronica.

I feel I know you somewhat already with all the posting you have been doing. Hope you enjoy the forum. Maybe I'll learn another language with all the different people here.  My parents were Polish and Russian, and I have always wanted to learn those languages...but I am willing to learn any language - if I'm not too over the hill to do it that is. Hey...maybe I'll even find a new, great place to move to. icon_megagrin (Although I'm still holding out for the Alpha Centaurians to take me on their shuttle.)

Well,I am in USA right now,so I can tell you what are the things I am missing from Serbia.

First of all,I miss turkish coffe. Those from Balkan, Croatia,Bosnia,Macedonia...know what I am talking about. Interesting thing about it is that when making turkish coffe, you don't use any filter so very fine grinded coffe is settled on the bottom of the cup. It is very popular to tell fortune from the settled coffe left on the bottom.

I miss laid-back people. People is Serbia are very laid-back. Since working hours are ussualy from 7 to 2 pm (believe it or not!),they have the rest of the day to enjoy it. Unfortunally, system is changing in all Europe,so Europe is accepting American 9-5pm working hours. That is Illuminati's plan, withoubt any doubt.

It is very hard to meet new people around here(in USA). This is a very cruel enviroment. Of course,I do not believe that people all the USA is the same everywhere. People in Serbia are very open,it is easy to talk and it is easier to find friends.

On the other hand, economy in Serbia is very bad. It is very difficult to find a job i Serbia, and even if they find it,it is ussualy without any chance of proffesional growth. Sallery is low,and people ussulay stay at their parent's house. I believe it is almost the same in the most of ex Yugoslavian countries.

Would you like to know something else?

G’Day Veronica,

Welcome to the forum, sounds like you are missing your home land. I think everyone should come and live in Australia, it is known as the ‘biggest island’ therefore we have a mentality of always being on holidays. You will make friends here on the forum and maybe some live near you. I also love to hear the life styles of others countries, maybe we should start a topic on this DT ?

Okay Astrojewels...we'll move to Australia. Got an extra room for us there? icon_ultragrin

Sure, we could start a topic on the lifestyles in other countries. That sounds like it could be fun and educational.

It is so interesting that you mentioned that, because recently I've been thinking maybe to move there one day. I agree that we could talk more about different cultures. I would also like to know more about Australia.

Hello Veronica,

Be welcome here; :)

it's interesting so many people from the ex-Yugoslavia region have found this forum.

Enjoy yourself.

Hi Veronica,  When I was growing up my parents housed some Yugoslavia boys staying with us for the summer.  I remember them as being very open and kind persons.

That's very interesting. How come that your parents chose to house people from Yugoslavia? It is really funny that there are people from ex-yu gathered here.:cool2:

Hi veronica,

Australia is a great place to live, it has problems but it really is a good life style.  They are just about to change the immigration laws, anyone who wants to migrate here has to know about the Aussie culture and must speak and write English. We are multi cultural and the larger cities do have Serbian communities, so you may be able to get that coffee you are after!

The weather is good, and the food is great, we have very strict laws with food and hygiene, you should come down for a visit some time, I am sure you would love it.
